TCMS – PAS 2035 Accreditation
Our in-house Carbon retrofit assessor, Ceri Pearce, has recently completed the PAS2035 Assessor Training with Elmhurst Training. This qualification is only currently awarded to 6 people in the UK, Ceri being one of these few!
This means he is now qualified to carry out all of the pre-assessments for the new PAS2035 regulations that will become an industry standard in 2020. This industry standard has been brought in to ensure that high levels of failure present in domestic retrofit are being tackled and to overall help working towards the government’s goal to reduce fuel poverty and carbon emissions, and to overall improve the uk’s existing housing stock.
PAS2035 has been introduced as the new industry standard to tackle the present failures. The main feature in this new standard is that instead of considering retrofit works in isolation, this new approach looks at the home, occupancy, environment and the homeowner’s overall improvement objectives.
Ceri undertook a 2 day training course at Elmhurst Training’s base in Leicestershire that included an in-depth learning of the PAS2035 Retrofit process, learning how to conduct occupancy assessments and assess property conditions, process heat loss and gain in a dwelling, further understanding of U Values and carrying out risk assessments for specific measures and properties all to the new industry standard.
Ceri officially gained his PAS 2035 Retrofit Assessor qualification on Monday, 15th July 2019. Whilst this is a one-time qualification, part of Ceri’s commitment to this frameworks is to annually complete a further 25 hours of continual professional development and learning, to ensure that he is kept up to date with industry standards and further improvements.
Following this, Ceri will next be undertaking the PAS 2035 retrofit coordinator scheme, which allows Assessors to further their training and development to allow them to gain the experience and qualifications to provide end-to-end project management, including the production of Retrofit plans in accordance with PAS 2035.
We would like to offer a huge congratulations to Ceri for gaining his qualification and further good luck for the Upcoming Coordinator Scheme – amazing work!
